As a team member at the City of Kawartha Lakes, you may be entitled to the following: OMERS pension (defined benefit), employer paid benefits package including short and long term disability income replacement, education reimbursement and other programs that foster innovation, leadership, and career advancement.Job Title:Senior Engineering Tech (Technical)Wage:$ )Reports To:Manager, Technical ServicesDepartment:Engineering and Corporate AssetsLocation:Lindsay, ONHours:Normal working hours are 40 hours per weekOther:Must be willing to work varied hours and to travel throughout the City in accordance with job requirements, work locations may varyJob DescriptionProvide engineering and technical support with a focus on capital and asset management programs including:Develop and implement a complete asset management plan for assigned infrastructurePerform asset rehabilitative and renewal analysis for capital assets including inspection programs, condition and risk assessments and lifecycle analysisPerform capacity analysis of systems through calculation of modeling software to support development and infrastructure planning processesIdentify and cost infrastructure replacement and expansion requirementsPerform and update bi-annual traffic counts, traffic related warrants, roadway lighting warrants, as well as maintain the Motor Vehicle Accident data base (Technical Services)Conduct and report on street lighting reviews / issues.Assist in the preparation and administration of capital, operating and project-related budgets including projections, estimates, cost-control, interim and final reportingResponsible for financial control of assigned projects, including documentation, account set-up and closure, purchase orders, change orders and some or all of local improvements, special grants, subsidies, donations, financing, interim and final reportingAnalyze project and operational costs and activities, making recommendation for efficiencies and level of engineering services required to carry out the workCoordinate and oversee the work of external contractors and consulting servicesPerform or coordinate engineering inspection services which may include, but are not limited to: sampling, surveying, construction and traffic countsAssist with preparation of Request for Tender, Request for Proposal and Request for Quotation documentationResearch and prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda and Council reportsPerform technical reviews providing input, comment or recommendation on assessments, studies, plans/drawings, materials, proposals, agreements, asset management and reportsCollaborate with staff in all departments to ensure continuity of service(s), providing progress or status reports and commentIdentify, develop and recommend engineering and procedural improvements, reviewing, evaluating and implementing policies and best practicesMaintain engineering records, documents and reports, including plans, maps and drawingsEnsure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and corporate policy/proceduresRespond to public enquiries, recording and investigating each instance and recommending follow-up actionPerform other related duties as assignedSkills / Education RequiredPost-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering or a related fieldM inimum 5 years of related progressive experience in technical services and related operationsMust have or be eligible for the OACETT designation (Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologists);
