Role Overview Build the future of industrial mechanical systems with us. In this role, you will deepen your expertise as a technical specialist, contributing directly to the engineering that powers manufacturing, processing, and industrial facilities. You will focus exclusively on hands‑on technical work — no project management, budgeting, or client administration — allowing you to apply advanced mechanical engineering judgment where it matters most: the integrity, performance, and reliability of industrial systems. Responsibilities Perform detailed mechanical calculations for industrial equipment and systems, including stress analysis, heat transfer, ventilation, piping, rotating machinery, and reliability engineering. Develop precise technical deliverables such as equipment specifications, P&IDs, mechanical datasheets, scoping documents, and design notes. Model and analyze mechanical components and assemblies, selecting materials, mechanical tolerances, and design parameters aligned with industrial codes and standards. Conduct equipment sizing (pumps, fans, compressors, heat exchangers, industrial HVAC units), ensuring safety, efficiency, and long‑term durability. Apply CSA, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, and other industrial standards to validate designs and ensure compliance across all deliverables. Review and interpret laser scans, 3D models, and field measurements to support retrofit, upgrade, and brownfield engineering. Perform root‑cause analyses to resolve equipment failures and operational issues, proposing robust engineering solutions. Prepare technical memos and engineering justification reports grounded in analytical methods and defensible engineering principles. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and CAD/REVIT designers, providing technical input without leading or managing project teams. Support site investigations and equipment inspections, documenting findings for integration into design packages. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and eligibility for P.Eng. with the OIQ. 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial environments (manufacturing lines, heavy equipment, process systems, utilities, material handling). Strong command of modeling and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, FEA tools, mechanical simulation software, or reliability analysis platforms. Deep familiarity with industrial equipment — pumps, conveyors, blowers, pressure systems, mechanical drives, rotating and static equipment. Strong understanding of asset integrity, maintenance engineering, failure modes, and lifecycle analysis. Ability to translate complex technical problems into well‑structured engineering solutions. Comfortable performing field verification, equipment assessments, and detailed technical walkthroughs in operational industrial environments. Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89,800 – $118,900 MB & ON: $81,900 – $112,800 NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $76,300 – $102,800 (includes Gatineau) The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The wage range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes. EEO Statement WSP welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process. WSP is committed to the principles of employment equity.
