Job Overview Position: Developmental Services staff (Union). Department: Developmental Services. Location: Toronto, ON (Toronto East). Status: Relief, Permanent. Pay Rate: $26.84 hourly. Vacancy Number: DS-U23-26. Hours/Shifts: Flexibility to work 3 varying shifts: 24:00‑8:00, 8:00‑16:00, 16:00‑24:00. Availability: Immediately. Number of vacancies: As needed. Responsibilities The role includes supports, counseling, life skills facilitation, safety and security, crisis management, administrative, clerical, and facilities upkeep duties. Support and Counseling : Provide assistance and information to help individuals make daily living decisions including hygiene, budgeting, cooking, nutrition, social skills, community participation, and goal achievement. Life Skills Facilitation : Deliver life skills programming in home and community settings to promote independent living. Community Outings/Escorts : Support individuals in participating safely in community activities. Conflict Management : Manage challenging behaviors in residential or community settings; attend to crisis situations using strategies that reinforce positive behavior and identify antecedents, behaviors, and consequences; apply appropriate policies and procedures. Health and Safety : Foster a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff in accordance with policies, procedures, and law. Administrative Duties : Provide clerical/reception and administrative support to the program. Qualifications Education: Post‑secondary diploma/degree in Social Services (BSW, BA, DSW, SSW). Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Valid First Aid and Safe Management certifications. Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the Developmental Services sector, including direct work with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnoses, supporting counseling, life skill facilitation, community support, and safe management. Knowledge of the Social Inclusion Act and the Act for the Supports of Persons with Developmental Disabilities (2008). Working knowledge of the Developmental Services sector and community resources. Skills and Abilities Individual and group facilitation skills to increase independence. Assessment skills for service delivery and operational/programming assessment. Program planning skills for implementation, evaluation, and modification of programs. Crisis intervention skills; ability to work under pressure. Written English communication skills. Verbal English communication skills. Demonstrated core competencies in flexibility and change influence. Nice to Have Ability to communicate in French both verbally and in written form.
