Your new company Hays has partnered with a leading Ontario contractor operating out of Windsor, Ontario and servicing South Western Ontario for over four decades. They predominately do institutional, commercial, industrial and some residential projects valued between $200k to upwards of $80M, both ground up and renovation. Your new role The open role, reporting to the VP of Project Management, is for a Senior Project Manager and/or a Project Director working five days a week out of their Windsor, Ontario office. They will provide overall administrative direction and oversee multiple construction projects. The Senior PM will be responsible for overall project performance, including costs, scheduling, quality and status. They will oversee Project Coordinators and collaborate with field staff in achieving project success as well as maintain strong relationships with both clients and trades. They will be instrumental in mentoring and coaching junior project team members, review and negotiate major purchase orders, monitor trade progress and identify required changes to project scope. They will lead meetings, prepare progress reports for ownership and clientele, including status reports relating to cost forecasting, schedule and safety. What you'll need to succeed The successful Senior Project Manager / Director will have at least 10 years experience managing and leading projects either ICI or residential in nature. A post-secondary diploma or degree in a related engineering or construction management discipline is preferred. They will be an exceptional communicator who can deal with both internal stakeholders and clients/trades. They will be a leader, someone who can manage and inspire junior team members, leading to the successful completion of projects. Previous management experience with a mid to high level general contractor would be ideal; dealing with a unionized environment would be an asset. The Project Manager must be able to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans and have a solid understanding of all construction trades and techniques. Strong knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, legislation, etc. including OH&S regulations and Building Codes is a must. Being a team player is imperative, someone who can work autonomously and as part of a larger team.
