Junior–Intermediate Intern Architect/Designer Position Overview We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior – Intermediate Intern Architect/Designer to support the Development Department in advancing multi‑family, mixed‑use, and office‑to‑residential conversions, as well as smaller‑scale portfolio positioning and value‑add projects from early feasibility through approvals, permitting, and delivery. The role contributes to building and interior design development, project coordination, design standards, and portfolio‑wide design initiatives, and works closely with senior leadership to support project execution, enhance design quality, and evolve new product and amenity concepts across the portfolio. Key Responsibilities Support feasibility studies and early design analysis (site planning, massing, yield, test fits) Contribute to schematic design, including unit layouts, building organization, façade concepts, and adaptive reuse strategies Support building design from concept through detailed design Support smaller positioning, value‑add, and design study projects Develop innovative concepts and specifications for common areas and amenity spaces Collaborate on new product development and design strategies Coordinate and review drawings and consultant deliverables for DP and BP submissions Work with external consultants to ensure alignment with project goals, budgets, and timelines Assist with order‑of‑magnitude costing and support project budgets and schedules during early design and feasibility Assist with project tracking, delivery, and timelines Prepare presentations, diagrams, and visual materials for stakeholders Support design QA through drawing reviews, redlines, and documentation checks Participate in site reviews and assist with addressing design‑related issues during construction Qualifications Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field Pursuing registration with the Alberta Association of Architects preferred 2–4 years of relevant experience in architecture, development, or design Understanding of multi‑family residential and mixed‑use projects preferred Exposure to Development Permit and Building Permit processes considered an asset Basic understanding of building systems, construction methods, and consultant coordination Strong graphic, presentation, and visualization skills Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering/visualization software Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently Interest in design innovation, interiors, branding, and evolving residential product types Portfolio or project samples of previous work required with the application Location: Calgary, Alberta.
