What is the opportunity? In this Global Senior Director role, you will be accountable to ensure that RBC has a global framework for efficient and timely project delivery that supports RBC business unit objectives and mitigates operational and financial risks in an outsourced, regional delivery model. You will provide oversight of RBC’s multiple project vendors (engineering, project delivery and design) and sourcing and reporting as well as a point of vendor performance escalation. Additionally, you will ensure project vendors are aligned with RBC objectives and compliant with RBC policies, regulations, and laws. What will you do? Define and implement a consistent delivery strategy and framework (e.g. engineering standards, supplier strategy, construction approach, internal vs external management, and other elements essential to project delivery) to support a Regional Delivery model. Establish quantitative standards of performance, management reporting, metrics and key information to be used by the Regional Delivery team through a dedicated CRE Project Management Office. Prepare Annual Capital Plan and Investment Strategy Recommendations. Ensure a consistent project delivery process globally by working with regional leaders who oversee implementation. Implement controls and a program management framework aligned to RBC’s enterprise Project Risk Governance (PRG) office guidelines and enterprise delegation of authority. Deploy leading industry practices related to project delivery, including lean project delivery processes, value engineering, and innovative project delivery methodologies to decrease cost and increase speed of delivery. Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Construction Sourcing strategy, collaborating with Procurement to strategically source goods and services and establish MSAs as needed. Manage overall supplier performance and advise on the approach to delivery of CRE projects (e.g., global, local, program approach) with suppliers such as design, construction, quantity surveying, equipment, services (e.g., furniture, architects). Take on additional responsibilities as needed and as team capabilities expand. Must-have University degree or equivalent experience in construction management or engineering. 10+ years of global real estate project management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior capacity and experience with global project portfolios. Proven leadership experience in building, developing, and leading a small team of subject matter experts who support the Regional Delivery model. Proven knowledge of all aspects of real estate projects including cost estimating, scheduling, construction contracts, value engineering, procurement methods, and capital planning. Well‑developed communication and presentation skills, including executive interaction and communications. Ability to work in a matrix organization with global delivery functions and regional teams. Strategic business acumen and a strong risk and cost control mindset. Nice-to-have Proven knowledge of project management processes including estimating, tendering, scheduling, interpreting design drawings, construction practices, value engineering, and alternative procurement methods. Experience building partnerships with business and functional unit clients. Lean/Six Sigma experience or certification. What’s in it for you?
