Health Safety Environment Advisor Marcon — a real estate and construction company focused on quality and craftsmanship. Base pay range: CA$70,000.00 per year – CA$100,000.00 per year. About the Role As a technical subject matter expert in occupational health and safety, the HSE Advisor supports the implementation of the Marcon HSEMS by providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and standards. They conduct regular site visits, lead incident investigations, and verify that the corrective actions are completed and effective. The HSE Advisor is responsible for developing and delivering relevant and up-to-date HSE training to site personnel and promoting a positive safety culture. Key Responsibilities Oversee HSE-related activities on a diverse portfolio of construction projects Foster and maintain positive relationships with project stakeholders Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and mentorship to Site Safety Coordinators Promote reporting of all incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts and conditions through conversation and guidance Conduct regular performance assessments of site safety teams, providing feedback and opportunities for improvement Lead monthly HSE meetings and oversee the completion of corrective actions Coordinate and conduct HSE training sessions for site personnel on new and updated HSEMS elements and initiatives Provide technical advice and support to project superintendents on HSE-related matters through coaching and positive reinforcement; identify potential risks and opportunities and advise site leadership Deliver training presentations on a wide range of HSE-related subject matter Lead incident and near miss investigations as required Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with Marcon HSEMS; actively participate in COR audits as required Liaise with WorkSafeBC officers Lead pre-mobilization meetings with trade partners, represent the HSE team in other meetings as required Review site documents inclusive of, but not limited to, traffic management plans; fire safety plans, JHAs, first aid assessments, Emergency Response Plans etc. Maintain current knowledge of the applicable OHS legislation, standards, and industry best practices Provide backup OFA/CSO coverage when required and support other projects when required Participate in the development, revision, and implementation of Marcon HSEMS elements and provide recommendations for improvement when necessary About You 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) from a recognized institution or working towards obtaining one Professional designation such as CRSP or CHSC or in process of obtaining one Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in construction safety Strong knowledge of HSE legislative requirements as well as industry best practices Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, HSE training development, and incident investigations Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide coaching and mentorship and promote safety policies effectively Internal COR Auditor certification and/or experience with COR audits are assets In-depth knowledge of WorkSafeBC Workers Compensation Act, OHS Regulations, and applicable standards Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively present information and resolve conflicts Highly detail-oriented and organized, able to proactively identify operational and organizational issues and develop strategies to mitigate risks Able to commute to any site locations throughout the Lower Mainland area What We Offer Marcon offers a competitive compensation package that includes base salary, performance bonuses, health benefits, RRSP matching, and an inclusive culture that supports teamwork and continuous improvement.
