The successful candidate will work closely with brokers to expand Liberty Mutual Canada’s presence across multiple Financial and Professional Services (FPS) product lines – focusing primarily on Professional Liability (Errors & Omissions).This role requires advanced underwriting expertise, strong broker relationships, and a solutions‑oriented mindset to deliver consistent, profitable results.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccountable for the solicitation, underwriting, and execution of a large and complex portfolio of Professional Liability (E&O) business including Architects & Engineers E&O, Contractors Professional Liability, and Miscellaneous E&OReview, negotiate, and execute policy terms and conditions, including manuscript wordings, where appropriateAchieve rate, retention, and growth targets through disciplined underwriting and strong portfolio managementDemonstrate elite underwriting by applying market expertise, innovative problem‑solving, accurate file documentation, and adherence to underwriting protocols and product strategiesProactively engage in marketing activities with brokers including external presentations and participating in industry eventsWork closely with brokers, clients, management, and product leaders to ensure consistency, alignment, and execution excellenceBuild, maintain, and expand broker and client relationships through regular marketing activity, active prospecting, and development of a strong pipeline of new businessTake a leadership role in managing internal and external meetings with professionalism, clarity, and mutual accountability for resultsCollaborate across LMC’s business units to leverage multi‑line and cross‑sell opportunitiesRecommend and execute innovative solutions to improve renewal efficiency and enhance ease of doing business for brokers and clientsMaintain accurate, complete, and well‑organized underwriting files in compliance with audit, governance, and underwriting best practicesParticipate in continuous learning and professional development through industry events, seminars, courses, and internal knowledge sharingPerform related duties, including reporting, presentations, and special projects, as required to support overall product line successSkills & QualificationsUniversity degree or equivalent combination of education and experience5 – 7 years of relevant underwriting experience within Financial & Professional Services linesAdvanced knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices & procedures across FPS productsStrong ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statementsProven ability to profitably grow and retain a complex specialty portfolioSelf‑starter with strong analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skillsExcellent business, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholdersEstablished market presence with strong broker relationships and demonstrated success in developing new business opportunitiesExcellent organizational and time management skills – ability to prioritize competing demandsRelevant insurance designations and continued education are considered an assetComfortable with critical thinking and a growth mindset, demonstrating respect for diverse perspectives and inclusive decision‑makingAbility to manage change effectively and adapt to evolving market conditions and systemsLiberty Mutual Canada is committed to pay transparency and fair, equitable hiring. For roles based in Ontario, we publish a Target Hiring Range in compliance with the Ontario Pay Transparency Act.Target Hiring Range: CAD $99,000 – 130,000This range represents the expected annual base salary for this role, however, offers above the published maximum may be approved with appropriate business authorization. Final offers will be determined based on each candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and the needs of the role. The posted range does not include variable compensation (bonus), allowances, or benefits.
