Overview Executive Director position with the BC Principals' & Vice-Principals' Association (BCPVPA). The organization advocates for its members and promotes leadership excellence for 2,700 school-based and district principals and vice-principals in British Columbia’s K-12 public school system. This is a full-time continuing role reporting to the Board of Directors and leading senior and support staff. Application deadline: May 18, 2026 (by 11:59 pm). Projected start date: August 1, 2026. Salary: effective July 1, 2026, $209,209.00. Responsibilities The Executive Director is responsible for leadership and management to execute the strategic vision and decisions of the Board. Key areas include: Leadership: develop an operational plan to execute the strategic plan; act as a professional advisor on the Association’s activities; build honest, transparent relationships; model leadership to create an inclusive workplace; build a high-performing team; advance the Strategic Plan goals. Operations: implement the Strategic Plan; oversee programs and services; manage human resources and succession planning; manage risk; ensure compliance with applicable legislation; work with the Director of Finance on budgeting and financial statements; coordinate external legal services. Relationships with government and partner groups: build positive external relationships; work with education partner groups to promote common goals; coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Child Care for alignment and communication. Support for the President: provide strategic advice and support; assist in planning board and committee agendas; foster relationships with the Ministry and education partners. Support for the Board of Directors: provide performance reporting; offer guidance on internal and external matters; prepare information and options for board decisions; keep the board informed of material matters; draft and review policies; develop board governance capacity; provide in-service training for new members; support committees. Personal and professional traits: ability to work independently and in a collaborative leadership team; strong communication; respectful and inclusive leadership; conflict management; decisiveness and resilience; adaptability to diverse groups. Qualifications and Experience Successful experience as a school and/or district leader in the BC public school system, or equivalent A master’s degree, doctorate, or equivalent Experience working with an elected Board Knowledge of the BC School Act, roles of Principals and Vice-Principals, and the BC public education system Proven ability to foster positive relationships with government agencies and partner groups Knowledge and experience in project conception, policy development and implementation, resource allocation, strategic planning, and budgeting Exceptional written and oral communication skills Commitment to equity, diversity, reconciliation, decolonization, and inclusion Location Primarily based at the BCPVPA office in Vancouver, BC. Travel within the province and within Canada is required. The Executive Director is expected to serve members, the Board, and staff beyond normal work hours. Salary and Benefits Salary, benefits, and pension are commensurate with experience and demonstrated skills.
