Lead Engineer - Schematics & Apparatus Location: Saint‑Bruno‑de‑Montarville, QC Position type: Full‑time (FTE) Industry: Rail Transportation / Rolling Stock Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level Employment type: Full‑time Job function: Engineering and Information Technology Pay Range Base pay: $110,000 - $120,000 per year (actual pay varies by skill and experience) Key Responsibilities Lead the definition, development, and review of train electrical architecture, cubical layout, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and apparatus layouts. Define and validate the selection of electrical apparatus (relays, circuit breakers, connectors, contactors, etc.) according to functional, environmental, and safety requirements. Review and validate functional schematics diagram (PPS‑pure principle schemes) and wiring diagram. Ensure designs comply with relevant railway standards (EN 50155, EN 50343, EN 50124, EN 50121, IEC 61375, etc.) and engineering processes. Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (Systems, Installation, Mechanical, Validation, and Industrialization) to ensure design consistency and integration. Support design reviews, verification activities, and technical documentation for manufacturing and testing. Responsible for electrical deliverables as per electrical baselines defined in the project. Drive standardization, best practices, and continuous improvement in design processes. Mentor and guide designers in schematic and apparatus design best practices. Maintain healthy KPIs as defined by project requirements. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent. Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical schematic and apparatus design, ideally within the rolling stock or rail industry. Proven track record in leading design teams on multi‑car train projects or complex electrical systems. Strong understanding of electrical systems architecture, protection, and control. Familiar with railway norms, standards, and design assurance principles. Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
