Position: Counsel, Professional Regulation Salary Range: $130,000 â $147,000 Based on Experience Benefits: Pension plan + 4 weeksâ vacation Experience Required: 6+ years Reports To: Office of the Executive Director Work Model : 4 days onsite, Fridays work from home. 9 to 5 About the Opportunity Due to an exciting move from the current incumbent within the firm, our client is seeking an experienced Counsel with a strong background in professional regulation to join our long standing clientâs Professional Regulation (PR) division. The ideal candidate will act as an advisor bringing seasoned legal judgment, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory matters with professionalism and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Legal Research & Strategic Support Conduct legal research and provide timely, informed legal and strategic advice to members of the Professional Regulation (PR) division. Implement operational, policy, and strategic initiatives in consultation with senior management and relevant stakeholders. Provide analysis to senior management regarding complaints, investigations, and prosecutionsâincluding evidence assessment, resolution strategy, and stage-by-stage regulatory process support. Drafts division-wide policies and delivers training to support policy implementation across the division. Client / Service Delivery Prepare, review, analyze, and summarize Memoranda of Understanding and other transactional documents supporting PRâs work. Instruct outside counsel on PR files in collaboration with the Manager & Senior Counsel; review counsel recommendations and advise on case direction and outcomes. Participate in case management and evaluation on both an individual file level and across broader procedural or long?term strategic initiatives. Qualifications LL.B. or J.D., with membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Minimum 6 years of experience in professional regulation, administrative law, or related regulatory practice is MANDATORY. Strong research, drafting, and analytical capabilities. Demonstrated ability to manage complex case files and competing priorities. Excellent communication skills and a high level of professional judgment.
