Following construction of additional utility-grade electricity substations and generation turbines powered by recovered flare gas, Steel Reef will provide more than 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity within Saskatchewan and North Dakota, which could power more than 100,000 homes annually.About the role Facilities Engineer will be responsible for managing capital projects.This position will be based out of the Calgary office, reporting directly to the Manager, Engineering. The successful candidate must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel regularly to our operating sites in Saskatchewan and North Dakota.Key Responsibilities:Manage capital projects with limited supervision up to $50 MMCombine strong communication and interpersonal skills with a thorough understanding of project management, facility design, construction and commissioningForecasting, budget creation and control of facilities capital expenditures, ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budgetManagement of key contractors and vendors including engineering firms, construction contractors and equipment suppliersEnsure proper facilities design processes are followed with adherence to best practices including drawing reviews, HAZOPs, risk assessments, etc.Close coordination with commercial and financial accounting to support financial reporting processesProject execution from origination & initial planning to supervision of day to day operations of facilities; supporting project construction, commission and start-up of greenfield/brownfield assetsMonitor contractor and supplier performance and acting quickly on under performanceMonitor performance against project critical success factors at project meetingsTravel to the field as requiredOther duties as assignedRequired Skills:Experience in power generation and/or turbine installation projects an assetStrong analytical, decision making, organizational and facilitator skillsAbility and willingness to make timely technical decisions and recommendationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment as well as independentlyThorough understanding of the economics and technical aspects of projects as well as the qualitative aspects of project implementationComfortable giving presentations and facilitating meetingsExperience and Education:10-20 years operational/facilities engineering experience, ideally with a significant proportion spent in the Western Canadian Sedimentary BasinExperience in medium to high voltage is considered an assetExperience in North Dakota, USA will be considered an assetA Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical engineering degree or equivalentProfessional designation in APEGA preferredProject management and execution experience on a portfolio of multiple small and intermediate projects (Sub $50M)Experience detailing mechanical, process design and instrumentation in projectsExperience in leading multi-functional teams and managing the work of engineering contractorsExperience working in a multi-discipline project environmentWhy Join our Team:Competitive compensation and bonus programsCompetitive benefit package, including a Flex Spending Account and Savings Plan matchingMonthly phone allowance8 hours of annual paid Volunteer time to support the communities in which we operateTeam building activitiesVarious recognition reward programs including long-term service awards and value-based awardsAbility to contribute to a dynamic organization with large growth ambitionsAll positions require background screening.#J-18808-Ljbffr
