Role description Arcadis is seeking a Senior Project Director to join our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA) in Canada. You will be responsible for overseeing the management and delivery of complex, high‑value projects to meet or exceed time, quality, budgetary, and health and safety targets. You will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the client relationship, ensuring delivery consistently meets or surpasses client expectations. You will take a senior leadership role with project teams, providing both direction and technical advice, and leading by example, while actively promoting both the regional and global culture of the business. Role accountabilities In this role, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of major projects valued at over $100 M, ensuring every aspect aligns with client objectives and Arcadis standards. You will serve as the primary point of contact for executive‑level client stakeholders and joint venture partners, building and maintaining strong relationships that support successful project outcomes. Overseeing multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, design, construction management, and external consultants, you will coordinate the efforts of diverse professionals to deliver on complex project requirements. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust project governance structures, risk management strategies, and quality assurance protocols, ensuring projects are managed effectively from inception to completion. By proactively addressing technical, commercial, and delivery challenges, you will drive project performance and ensure all milestones are met. Leading contract negotiations, managing change processes, and resolving claims will be key components of your role, ensuring that all contractual obligations are fulfilled and any issues are resolved efficiently. Additionally, you will support business development activities by contributing to major pursuits and proposal development, helping to position Arcadis as a partner of choice for large‑scale projects. Fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and technical excellence across project teams will be essential, ensuring that best practices are consistently applied and new ideas are encouraged. Finally, you will mentor and develop project managers and emerging leaders within the organization, building a strong pipeline of talent for the future. Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications Bachelor’s University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university 20+ years of Project Management experience, including 15+ years in a Transportation/Transit related discipline, with extensive experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams on complex projects Preferred Qualifications P.Eng. (Eligible for Membership with PEO) preferred Postgraduate qualifications in business, finance, or project management related areas an advantage Proven experience in leading design within a consultant organization and working in a tendered design services environment Strong commercial background, including familiarity with contractual conditions and procedures (including international standards), and the ability to take full commercial responsibility for major projects Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, and working with senior professionals from varied backgrounds and cultures Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this position is $195,000 – $245,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
