Salary Range: $33,367 - $41,812 hourly Overview The Ministry of Community Safety has a two‑year term opportunity for highly motivated individuals who are team players and interested in a rewarding career as a Special Constable – Scale Officer. Your primary goal will be to protect the highway infrastructure and ensure the safety of all highway users by monitoring commercial vehicle compliance with the National Safety Code requirements and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance standards through the operation of permanent Commercial Vehicle Inspection Stations. Responsibilities As a Scale Officer, you will enforce transportation legislation, policies, and agreements for commercial vehicles traveling on Saskatchewan’s provincial highway system. You will be responsible for checking commercial vehicle operators for licensing, certification, and insurance, and inspecting commercial vehicles for safety, weights, dimensions, permits, and registration. You will conduct inspections, lay charges, appear in court, conduct investigations, and prepare reports. Your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, promotion of a cooperative work environment, and innovative approach will be required to interact with team members, other enforcement and government agencies, as well as the commercial transportation industry. Candidates must work shift work, travel with overnight stays away from headquarters, hold a valid First Aid Certificate (including AED), and hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license with a good rating. Requirements Pass the Sheriff Officers’ Physical Abilities Test (SOPAT) and all required physical/medical assessments. Possess a valid Canadian driver’s license and provide a Certified Driver’s Abstract if selected for medical/physical testing. Hold a valid First Aid Certificate, including AED, valid to May 2027 or beyond. Pass a psychological personality assessment (MMPI) to determine suitability for law enforcement.
