The Opportunity McElhanney has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to enhance our growing team in Kelowna, BC. Reporting directly to our Division Manager, you will collaborate with local and regional teams to deliver a variety of structural engineering pursuits to well‑established clients including local governments, provincial ministries and agencies, and crown corporations. As a self‑starter who is keen on challenging the status quo, this role offers a chance to advance leadership, business development, and technical skills and potentially be invited into ownership at McElhanney – a true employee‑owned company. What You’ll Do Provide design, engineering, and site inspections for structural projects. Lead project management of multi-disciplinary projects, including managing structural assignments locally. Assist with proposal preparation and business development. Supervise and mentor junior staff. What You’ll Bring Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited post‑secondary institution with 10+ years of experience in structural design. Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in any Canadian province or territory. Proven delivery of structural projects (design, drafting, and inspection) for public and private clients; experience in multi‑family, multi‑story residential design is an asset. Knowledge & experience with National and Provincial Building Codes including those for steel (CAN/CSA S16), concrete (CAN/CSA A23.3), masonry (CAN/CSA S304.1), and wood (CAN/CSA 086). Proficiency with structural engineering software such as RISA or SAP2000. Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and a positive, team‑oriented attitude. Strong people skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of individuals. What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $140,000 per annum. Salary offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This role is designated as a safety‑sensitive position.
