Job Description As an Accuracy Specialist, you ensure the dimensional integrity of structures, systems, and assemblies throughout all phases of ship repair/construction, from initial design through final integration. This role focuses on maintaining geometric accuracy between digital models, manufacturing processes, and as-built conditions to minimize rework, ensure proper fit‑up, and achieve the highest standards of build quality. More specifically, you will: Perform 3D dimensional inspections using laser trackers and total stations to verify accuracy of structures, blocks, and modules. Establish and maintain shipyard coordinate systems, datums, and reference points. Support alignment and fit‑up activities of major components (e.g., hull blocks, shafts, foundations, modules). Analyze and interpret measurement data, prepare detailed inspection reports, and communicate deviations to engineering and production teams. Collaborate with design and production engineers to prevent dimensional conflicts and optimize fabrication sequences. Contribute to the development of Accuracy Control Plans (ACP) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP). Use and manage 3D metrology software (e.g., PolyWorks, Spatial Analyzer, or similar). Maintain traceability of measurements and ensure calibration of metrology instruments. Requirements Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Naval Architecture, Metrology, or a related technical field. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a precision measurement or dimensional control role within a heavy industrial or shipbuilding environment. Familiarity with naval or marine engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T). Experience supporting production, fabrication, and outfitting teams in a shipyard. Proficiency in 3D metrology software and CAD interpretation. Participate in developing best practices for accuracy control, measurement methods, and tolerancing. Train production and quality personnel on dimensional accuracy principles and procedures. Strong communication and teamwork abilities; capable of bridging engineering and production disciplines. Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English‑speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.
