(hybrid - in-office setting with flexible remote working days) AtSt. Jude Community Homes (SJCH) we believe that recovery from mental illness is a unique and personal journey that’s enhanced by the support of others. Recovery means the ability to have a home, a friend and meaningful activity in one’s life within a community that offers hope, dignity, respect and the opportunity for personal growth. Mental illness need not be an obstacle to fulfilling one’s dreams. We are committed to helping people stay out of the hospital, achieve their personal goals and enjoy an improved quality of life within the limitations caused by chronic illness. SJCH is a 39-year nonprofit organization located in downtown east Toronto. We are both a health service provider and a housing provider. We provide high-quality supportive housing for people navigating mental health challenges – fostering dignity, connection, and community through collaboration and co-creation. Supportive services help residents build a stable home to use as a platform for individual health, recovery and personal growth. Our supportive housing portfolio consists of purpose builds and rented scattered units with varying levels of individualized support through onsite staff, including access to social opportunities, employment opportunities and healthy, affordable meals. We currently oversee 117 households across 4 sites that we either own, lease or operate, predominantly clustered in Toronto’s Regent Park neighbourhood. All units are self-contained with a mix of single and family apartments with tenancies protected under the Residential Tenancy Act. We also transfer payments to support the operation of a high support housing provider. The term ‘resident’ is used to reference tenants as it is considered more inclusive and reflects a community focus. As a nonprofit mental health agency our services would not be possible without funding and assistance from the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, and the City of Toronto.
