As a member of the Hyperconverged Solutions R&D team, you will advance the Ross industry-leading A/V infrastructure products including Ultrix, the ultimate hyperconverged platform. Successful candidates will have serious technical chops to pair with a “find a way” attitude to harness the full power of themselves and their teammates in solving unique and challenging technical problems in a supportive, high-energy, and dynamic work environment. What The Job Is All About Architect, design, simulate and test leading edge FPGA & HW solutions for Video market Develop high-level design requirements, participate in key part (FPGA) selection, and support aggressive project scheduling Develop schematics and support detailed board layout for designs (contributing to signal integrity, fabrication constraints, and thermal considerations) Work with other team members to verify the functionality of the FPGA & HW Thoroughly self-test all designs and support PV (QA) throughout development – review test plans, validate feedback, and debug/fix hardware problems as required Generate specification & design documentation to support cross-functional aspects of the NPI process Assist in supporting other staff members through entire NPI process flow – including design, documentation, test, presales and customer service Who You Are Senior level HW & FPGA design knowledge and experience across a broad range of topics including Video (SMPTE-SDI, proprietary Video IP cores) and Audio (AES, MADI, etc) Logic building blocks & system architectures High speed transceivers, clock domain analysis, & timing closure SoC Design integration Deep knowledge of FPGA architectures, speed/area tradeoffs, high-speed transceivers, clock domain analysis, timing closure, and SoC platforms Fluent in development languages and schematic capture used in HW design – VHDL and/or Verilog (preferred) AI-assisted engineering efficiency: Practical experience using AI tools with well-structured prompts to support FPGA and hardware development activities Cursor for FPGA development: Experience using Cursor to navigate and maintain large VHDL/Verilog codebases Expertise in current Xilinx & Altera devices and associated design and debugging tools Experience with designing large FPGA designs with high-speed interfaces (e.g., UHD-SDI, gigabit transceivers, DDR3/4, source-synchronous buses, PLLs) Proficiency in general circuit principles, power supply design, uP design, and signal conditioning Strong debugging skills & proficient with lab equipment Ability to accurately estimate task and project durations Knowledge of software languages such as C, C++, Java, and other design languages a plus Strong Windows computer skills; especially Excel & Visio - VBA scripting knowledge a plus Knowledge of broadcast studio applications & workflow preferred; router / distribution systems a plus What We Offer Ross provides competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and the flexibility you need to do your best work, including flexible hours, generous paid time off, and a wellness allowance. The listed salary reflects the pay range for a role based in Canada. Compensation may differ based on alternate locations if listed. Final compensation will be determined by location, skills, experience, knowledge, and role-specific qualifications, and may be adjusted to recognize candidates accordingly.
