Traffic Signal Designer – Markham, ON Position within Transportation Electrical team. Job Description Responsible for designing transportation electrical systems for traffic signals and roadway lighting, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and codes. Daily Responsibilities Prepare detailed designs for transportation electrical systems using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Conduct detailed calculations such as voltage drop, illumination, conductor and conduit sizing, and grounding to ensure designs meet relevant engineering standards and applicable codes. Perform complete lighting analysis using AGi32. Design electrical layouts for cable raceways/underground conduits, lighting, panel schedules design, lighting poles and base details, luminaire schedule, electrical grounding. Prepare contract documents, including specifications and cost estimates. Required Experience Minimum of 5 years continuous experience in detailed design and design consultancy. Experience in roadway lighting, traffic signal design and PHM‑125. Prior experience in transportation and transit projects is a must. Experience with advanced lighting design tools (AGi32 and Autolux). Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation and SPIDACalc. Knowledge of standards IES‑RP‑21, OESC, IEEE, OTM, OPDS, OPSS, Book 12 and Book 7. Ministry of Transportation, Ontario work experience is desirable. Compensation Salary range: $62,000 – $82,100.
