Job Overview The Senior Business Manager for the Berkley School of Nursing (BSON) serves as a key strategic leader, providing financial stewardship across the school's academic, research, service, and administrative domains. Reporting to and acting under the authority of the Dean, this role provides oversight of budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation in alignment with institutional priorities and enrollment forecasting and review. This position supports data informed decision making, ensures compliance with university policies, and advances the school’s mission through effective financial management and strategic planning. Work Interactions Reporting directly to the Dean of the BSON, with secondary accountability to the Vice President of Finance for Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC), the Senior Business Manager partners with senior leadership at BSON to steward the school’s financial resources with integrity and strategic discipline. The role advances operational excellence and fiscal accountability in support of the school’s mission within Georgetown’s Jesuit tradition of education, service, and leadership. This role maintains strong working relationships across GUMC, other university schools, and central administrative units. The Senior Business Manager partners with academic leaders such as division heads and program directors to work to ensure seamless integration of fiscal strategies across all programs. The Senior Business Manager also engages key partners (e.g., 2U, 3rd party marketing co) to ensure optimal fiscal operations. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public administration, or a related field is required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of seven to ten years of administrative/supervisory experience required, including at least four years in higher education, with demonstrated financial management in complex organizations. Proficiency with financial systems, data analysis tools, and project management software. Strong computer skills are necessary to carry out financial reporting, forecasting, and planning. Demonstrated ability with proficiency in financial modeling for programmatic/unit development, implementation and growth. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, and external partners. Demonstrated excellence in enrollment forecasting and modeling. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks, prioritize effectively, and drive initiatives to completion. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and to foster an inclusive, supportive work environment. Demonstrated visionary and strategic leadership that drives fiscal excellence, fosters innovation, and promotes continuous improvement. A proven track record of creating and sustaining inclusive environments that empower both individual and collective success. Strong emotional and social intelligence, with the ability to lead with empathy, adaptability, and self-awareness.
