Senior CET/Structural Engineer (on-site/Ottawa) Job Summary Salas O’Brien Canada is searching for an Intermediate or Senior CET/Structural Engineer to oversee a major construction project in Ottawa, acting as the crucial link between our client, designers and subtrades.From 2026 to 2030, you will be a resident structural site engineer at the new Ottawa Civic Hospital, the largest research hospital in Canada, being built in downtown Ottawa.In This Role, You WillEstablish a strong relationship with the client and communicate with both technical and management-level personnelPerform site reviews and construction administration services during the construction phase. Circulate photographs and findings with design team and prepare site reports.Review project plans, requirements, and specifications.Co‑ordinate site issues with the company’s design teamsDocument, circulate and coordinate with structural design team any contemplated and implemented changes from other consultants/tradesReview, circulate and coordinate RFIs with the design teamReview and coordinate Site Instructions with the design teamConduct project observations during the construction phase and ensure contractor compliance with technical and contractual terms and conditions throughout the construction stageReview, circulate and coordinate the review of structural shop drawings with the design teamGather, review and circulate with design team all inspection reports prepared by 3rd inspection parties (geotechnical, concrete testing, steel mill shop reports, etc).Analyze all structural inspection and testing reports relevant for the close‑out of projectsRegularly perform QA/QC ReviewsRequired to have a strong understanding of all contract documents during the construction phaseAttend Construction H&S and coordination meetings.
