Our vision and strategy aim to innovate the industry and support Canadians in achieving their financial goals.Position (details)The Senior Manager Market Data reports to the Director Market Data Management and is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, governance and optimization of market data across the organization, ensuring compliance, cost efficiency and alignment with Business Unit needs.The Senior Manager Market Data Management supports the Director Market Data Management with developing and implementing IGM’s market data strategy.ResponsibilitiesMarket Data Strategy & GovernanceImplements IGM’s market data strategy across Business Unit(s) by translating it into a set of implementable and measurable plans and targetsParticipates in and prepares materials for the Market Data Council meetingsEnsures compliance with data licensing agreements and vendor contracts across BUsContributes to the development and implementation of the goals, objectives, and budget for their assigned Business Unit(s)Collaborates with the assigned Business Unit(s) to establish policies and procedures for data usage, entitlements and cost control.Market Data Vendor ManagementProvides advice to assigned Business Unit(s) relating to market data sourcing strategies, through data collection, market research and spend analyticsHelps to maintain currency of the market data inventory management system and uses the data to identify optimization opportunities in the portfolioLeads development of market data sourcing strategies leveraging market trends to maximize value to the businessAnalyzes and understands all potential third‑party risks at the market data category/supplier level (e.g. data security, privacy, regulatory and compliance, and reputational risks) and develops appropriate mitigation strategies with business leadersManages the day‑to‑day relationships with key market data vendors (e.g Bloomberg, MSCI, Factset, FTSE etc.)Monitors market data vendor performance and service levelsLeads contract negotiations, renewals and compliance auditsMarket Data SourcingLeads internal resources and business partners in supporting the development of a sourcing strategy or planning of a sourcing exercise and ensuring alignment with the overall market data strategyParticipates with Sourcing Lead in RFX / competitive bid process from issue, evaluation, negotiations, and vendor selectionCollaborates with business partners in recommending and providing decisions on optimal vendors that best meet the evaluation criteria and objectives of the businessUses the Source-to-Contract platform and follows procurement processes and the Procurement Policy to complete sourcing and contracting activitiesStakeholder Collaboration and InnovationWorks closely with investment management, asset management and other consumers of market data along with risk stakeholders, procurement, compliance and IT teams.Understands business needs and aligns market data services accordinglyStays updated on trends like cloud data services, AI in market data management data and other market data industry trends.Requirements Experience:5-7 years of experience in market data vendor management and category analytic roleMinimum 5 years’ experience at a financial institution with exposure to financial marketsExperience with market data platforms (Bloomberg, Refinitiv)Familiarity with financial markets and data governanceStrong analytical and project management skillsSkilled in negotiations supporting financial services categories, including but not limited to finance, market data, fund operations, industry subscriptions and wealth product managementExpert knowledge on developing and interpreting spend and market analysisAbility to influence and manage senior to executive level stakeholders using advanced negotiation, facilitation and mediation skillsExperience in continuous improvement environmentsExpert knowledge in Excel and PowerPointPreferred:Undergraduate degree in business or financeExperience with an asset manager or buy‑side firm or bankCanadian Securities CourseFinancial Information AssociateKnowledge of financial markets, fund management and/or private wealthExperience using a market data inventory management system (TRG Screen)Experience in data visualization tools, such as TableauThe expected annual base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location.
