Director, Land Development & Construction Financing Job Category: Business Banking Requisition Number: DIREC Posted: April 22, 2026 | Full-Time | Hybrid Location Business Banking Centre – 50 Ronson Dr, Etobicoke, ON M9W 1B3, Canada About the Role You will be primarily accountable for building and developing a portfolio of large land development and construction loans and cash management services that exhibit a high degree of complexity and value to Meridian. The role focuses on high‑value transactions (generally $20,000,000) and aims to grow the size and profitability of the Land Development and Construction book through good risk management and strong new business relationships. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of highly complex commercial members. Monitor and manage profitability of commercial relationships to build long‑term mutually beneficial relationships. Provide structure and in‑depth analysis on complex credits. Demonstrate strong working knowledge of balance sheets, cash‑flow mechanics, and business plans. Structure flexible credit solutions customized to meet member needs. Negotiate and document complex credit and cash‑management arrangements in partnership with Commercial Credit. Identify and initiate contact with members, partners, community leaders, centers of influence and prospects to close deals. Maintain an ongoing sales pipeline and follow up on unsuccessful referrals. Use financial expertise to proactively assess member needs and recommend products/solutions. Ensure members are aware of the benefits of existing and new products. Continuously update knowledge on new products that may benefit members. Share knowledge and experience with team to support their development goals. Qualifications University degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). 8+ years of progressive commercial lending experience in sales, service, and portfolio management. Experience with land development & construction financing is an asset. Strong sales management skills, including setting goals, monitoring targets, pipeline, and coaching. In‑depth knowledge of the commercial banking marketplace and key industries. Advanced knowledge of lending policies, complex procedures, and documentation requirements. Superior origination, relationship building, and portfolio management. Superior negotiation skills and deep product knowledge. Expert knowledge of segment, strategy, structure, and related products. Advanced credit examination, underwriting, and financial analysis skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to interact at all organizational levels and within the community. Comfort with digital tools, AI‑enabled technology, and new technology adoption. Compensation Salary Range: CAD 95,000–142,400 annually (based on skills, experience, and internal equity).
