Overview The AWS Identity team builds the secure identity, access, and resource management foundation for customers to scale in the AWS Cloud. By joining the AWS Identity team, you will work on massively scalable, core technologies used for authentication and authorization to all AWS services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and Amazon DynamoDB. Our mission is to make it easier, safer, and convenient for AWS customers to run their business workloads confidently and securely. We process large amounts of data and leverage large‑scale data analysis techniques, machine learning, and automated reasoning to help customers set appropriate access controls across all their AWS environments. A successful candidate is a hands‑on manager with a background in IT operations, cloud computing, or SaaS, delivering high‑performing, reliable systems in a distributed environment, building and using large data collections and machine learning to deliver the next generation permission experience for all AWS customers. You will coach, lead, and guide career, technical, and growth topics for your team and drive the definition of new features and initiatives. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute project plans and delivery commitments; handle the day‑to‑day activities of the engineering team within an agile environment. Staffing, mentoring, and growing a best‑of‑class engineering team. Operate the service as a critical system. Collaborate with engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach. Be a hands‑on technical leader and contributor. Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of engineering team management experience. 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams. 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling). 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software and hardware lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live‑site operations. Experience partnering with product or program management teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy. Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness. The base salary range for this position is 171,400.00 – 286,200.00 CAD annually. As a total compensation company, Amazon’s package may include other elements such as sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
