Job Description AECOM Canada ULC is actively seeking a Geotechnical Lead who will be responsible for developing and leading a group of geotechnical engineers and technicians/technologists in Saskatoon, SK . The candidate should possess strong people management, leadership, project management, technical and communication skills and extensive experience in the geotechnical analyses and design of foundations, dams, retaining structures, embankments, excavation support systems, trenchless construction including microtunneling and horizontal directional drilling, staged embankment construction in conjunction with pre-fabricated vertical drains and ground improvement methods, and writing and reviewing geotechnical reports and proposals. The successful candidate will work on major transportation, water resources, marine, civil infrastructure, building projects and mining projects all over Canada. The role will be a key part of the development and growth of our geotechnical practice in Western Canada with a focus on Saskatchewan and other provinces. Key Responsibilities Work with diverse teams of engineers, designers and drafters from conceptual design through preliminary and final design Hire, mentor and train technicians/technologists, junior geotechnical engineers Manage people and projects and be responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance Resolve complex geotechnical issues Write, compile, and review geotechnical reports and proposals for major projects Prepare and present technical papers and contribute to advancement of earth science in our area of technical specialization Maintain quality throughout a project and implement improvements when determined Prepare project summary reports Encourage growth within the group and improve the general knowledge base throughout the company Develop and sustain long‑lasting business relationships with clients Be a role model and technical mentor for our staff Travel within Canada when required Minimum Requirements B.Sc. (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering Must be registered as a P.Eng. in Saskatchewan; registration in other provinces considered an asset Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean record Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering Acted as a geotechnical engineer and lead for multidisciplinary design projects and interface effectively with various disciplines (environmental, civil, transportation, water and wastewater, buildings, electrical and mechanical) Experience in client service and business development Strong understanding of finite element theory for soil and rock including advanced geotechnics related to real soil/rock behavior Knowledge of elastic, elastoplastic and advanced constitutive models for linear and nonlinear materials Advanced knowledge of models associated with seepage and consolidation Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment Experience with and ability to make informed decisions regarding intrusive and non-intrusive field investigations, basic and advanced laboratory testing and material characterization Experience with coupled and uncoupled seepage analysis, slope stability analysis and deformation analysis Experience with liquefaction assessment and seismic engineering related to civil engineering projects including bridges, buildings and dams is considered an asset Experience with conceptual and feasibility level design, preliminary design, detailed design, construction and site closure Experience with field investigation techniques such as CPT, SPT, PMT, DMT and their utilization in static and seismic design Additional Information Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience and work location.
