Qualifications Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification, Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certificate. Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience. Experience: Minimum 5 years in automotive service, preferably with commercial transport truck systems. Other Requirements: Willing to relocate; relocation costs covered by employer. Work Environment On-site location requiring completion at a physical workshop. Environment may be dusty and noisy. Responsibilities Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems. Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace units. Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Inspect motor in operation. Review work orders. Road test motor vehicles. Test automotive systems and components. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer specifications. Estimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs. Perform scheduled maintenance service. Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements. Complete reports to record problems and work performed. Coach and instruct apprentices. Provide customer service.
