Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect – Databases to join the Canada Specialist Solutions Architects team in Toronto, Ontario. This role is designed for someone who thrives on solving complex, large-scale data management challenges and helping organizations harness the power of cloud computing. Key Responsibilities Provide AWS customers with deep technical expertise and strategic guidance to effectively use AWS Database Services across their business Collaborate with AWS specialist sales, marketing, and product teams to develop innovative solutions for customers' most challenging business problems Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers' executives, helping them navigate cloud transformation and digital innovation Lead architectural reviews and workshops focused on common use cases and industry best practices Design and architect complex database solutions based on relational or non-relational technologies Develop and deliver proof-of-concept projects, technical workshops, and support implementation projects for migrating applications from on-premise databases (Oracle/SQL Server) to AWS services such as RDS, Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL, and DynamoDB Champion industry best practices through technical thought leadership content including blogs, white papers, and reference architectures Present at key industry events including AWS re:Invent, AWS Summit, and other conferences Provide feedback to AWS product teams on customer-specific requirements and act as primary point of contact for urgent customer issues Stay current with emerging trends in databases, analytics, and Generative AI Basic Requirements 8+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level stakeholders Deep knowledge and experience with at least one commercial or open source relational database (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) or non-relational database (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience Experience working with end user or developer communities Experience in a technical role within a sales organization Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS Compensation Base salary range of $146,000 – $211,600 CAD annually (Toronto). Total compensation may include sign-on payments and RSUs.
