About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Lab Sampling Technician to support our field and laboratory operations in Foster Creek. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and compliant collection of field samples including water, gas, hydrocarbons, and soil. Your work will directly support laboratory analysis, production optimization, environmental monitoring, and regulatory compliance , ensuring high-quality sample integrity from collection through to delivery. Key Responsibilities Field Sampling & Collection Collect representative samples from oil & gas operations, including: Produced water, surface water, and groundwater Natural gas and vapor samples Crude oil, bitumen, condensate, and refined products Soil and sediment for environmental monitoring Conduct sampling at sites such as wellheads, tanks, pipelines, separators, battery sites, and pump stations Follow standardized methods including ASTM, API, and company SOPs Sample Handling & Documentation Accurately label, preserve, and store samples in compliance with regulatory and laboratory standards Maintain strict chain-of-custody documentation Record data in field logs and digital systems Prepare and coordinate shipment of samples to internal or third-party labs Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance Follow all HSE policies and safe work practices , including working in hazardous environments (e.g., H2S) Properly use PPE and gas detection equipment Participate in hazard assessments, safety meetings, and incident reporting Ensure compliance with Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and federal environmental requirements Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate and maintain field sampling equipment such as: Pumps, probes, bailers, and sample cylinders Gas sampling containers and flow measurement tools Perform calibration, cleaning, and troubleshooting to ensure data integrity Collaborate with lab teams to support quality assurance and control What You Bring Must be legally eligible to work in Canada High school diploma (or equivalent) Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Experience in field sampling, laboratory environments, or oil & gas operations Strong understanding of safety practices in industrial environments Ability to work independently in remote locations Physical & Work Requirements Ability to work long hours in physically demanding, outdoor conditions Comfortable working in extreme weather (heat/cold) Able to: Lift 25–50 lbs Work around heavy equipment and industrial hazards Willingness to travel frequently to remote field locations Why Join Us Work in a hands-on, field-based role supporting critical operations Be part of a safety-first, high-performing team Gain exposure to both field operations and laboratory environments Competitive compensation and rotational schedule
