Coast Communications and Public Affairs is a Canadian-owned and operated boutique PR agency based in a heritage building in downtown Vancouver. We provide comprehensive public relations services to a range of clients, including: Strategic communications planning and support Issues and crisis communications (reactive and proactive) Event planning and management Consultation and community/stakeholder engagement Media relations and training Public affairs, including PR for GR Social media program management Collateral development including writing, infographics, website content, newsletters and more The estimated starting base salary for the role is between $60,000 to $70,000. THE POSITION We are seeking a Consultant, Public Relations, to join our team in a full-time permanent position to support our growing list of clients. Our clients range from industry/trade associations, major project proponents, First Nations-led organizations, First Nations governments, not-for-profits, municipalities, crown corporations and more. We work in high-stakes and complex stakeholder environments supporting clients’ objectives through professional communications and public affairs programs. This role is highly integrated within the team and offers exposure to a variety of client files and projects. You may already have: Experience in PR or corporate communications at an agency or in-house Academic training in PR, communications, or a related field Keen interest in current events and news Knowledge of politics at the local, provincial and national level You thrive on: Writing and editing —you’re a confident writer and have a strong attention to detail for copy editing and layout design Fast-paced environment – you are comfortable supporting clients in high-stakes situations and working on multiple clients files at once Precision and detail —you double-check and take pride in your work Being proactive —you manage your to-do list before being asked, put your hand up to help when you have capacity or when you need support Learning and curiosity —you’re eager to grow and take initiative Accountability —you work well independently, but know when to ask for direction Team collaboration —you value being part of a tight-knit, supportive team KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Participate and support in the full project workflow for a client from new biz development to completing project deliverables Research and complete analysis to develop insights to inform client plans and programs Support and develop client plans including: communication plans, crisis communications plans, issues management plans, media relations strategies, stakeholder consultation and engagement plans, etc. Manage project timelines and workflows using internal project management tools to keep projects on time and on budget Build relationships with journalists, newsrooms and editors through ongoing media relations and media pitching Monitor media and social media to track and identify emerging issues relevant to the firm and clients Create ongoing media and stakeholder lists Coordinate with vendors (e.g., venues, printers, A/V, website developers, graphic designers) Produce, revise and format PowerPoint decks with SmartArt, icons and layout polish Create and manage client and firm newsletters, content, blog posts and websites Design graphics and collateral (Canva) Develop editorial calendars and moderate social media channels Oversee Google Ads campaigns and updates Analyze performance metrics and create client/public facing reports Be available to work some limited evenings and weekends in the event of a client crisis EXPERIENCE Minimumfour to six years of experience in communications, PR, public affairs, public policy, etc. Demonstrated interest in current affairs, news Understanding of B.C./Canadian politics Highly organized with excellent time management and multitasking skills to deliver results on time and budget Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with various types of partners, clients and stakeholders Curious and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience with digital tools (Mailchimp, Canva, Google Analytics, Shopify, AI tools) Advanced copy editing skills and familiarity with the CP Style Guide Openness to be available 24/7 to support in client crisis response Post‑secondary education in political science, PR, communications, journalism, business or a related field #J-18808-Ljbffr
