The opportunity As a Senior, you will be a professional member of our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team. In Canada, our FAAS team consists of dedicated financial reporting and accounting advisory professionals in seven locations across the country. We combine technical accounting skills in IFRS, ASPE and US GAAP, practical experience in financial reporting processes and Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, as well as deep sector and regulatory knowledge to deliver world‑class service to our clients. This job posting relates to an existing vacancy within our organization. Your Key Responsibilities As a Senior, you will help finance leaders address the challenges and ongoing changes facing their business and manage the resulting repercussions on the accounting and finance function. You will partner with them to achieve their potential in acquisitions, divestitures, IPOs, GAAP conversions, optimisation/restructuring, accounting standards policy implementation and convergence. You will also work with your clients to remediate pre‑existing material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in their control framework and assist with the design and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting. Finally, you will create innovative commercial insights for clients and drive improvements in business processes. Skills And Attributes For Success Technical accounting experience in IFRS and US GAAP along with multiple years of audit experience at a top accounting firm Participate in various engagements (researching application of accounting standards to various transactions, assessing financial and governance processes, assisting with accounting framework transitions, comparisons of different company practices, developing and providing tailored training, etc.). Experience auditing clients who comply with NI 52-109 and/or SOX 404 regulatory requirements An understanding of, and client‑facing experience in, assessing control failures within an organization and determining whether those failures result in material weaknesses or significant deficiencies Experience in performing risk assessments and evaluating the design of internal controls An understanding of IT general controls and entity level controls Prepare deliverables tailored to client needs. Establish and maintain relationships with client management. Understand the client’s industry and recognise key performance drivers, business trends and new technical and industry developments. Stay informed of changing market conditions and new regulatory developments and their impacts on clients. Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery. Attend training programs to continually develop skills. Maintain cooperative relationships and foster mutual support with other EY service line teams. To qualify for the role you must have A Canadian CPA designation (or an equivalent international qualification), and at least 3 years of relevant experience Audit or business experience in the application of accounting standards, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Audit or business experience in financial statement close and the application of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, with a preference for experience with SOX 404 or NI 52-109 compliance Demonstrate mastery of key concepts and principles related to the application of internal controls over financial reporting, finance process improvements, project management and change management; show an ability to apply these consistently in engagement settings Impeccable client relationship skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills A dedication to teamwork and leadership The ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, dynamic team‑oriented environment What We Look For We’re interested in strong team players who support their colleagues in reaching their goals while also considering their own workload and development.
