Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Financial Lines Claims Counsel to handle claims specific to Cyber, Crime, D&O, E&O, EPL, and Environmental policies. Reporting to the AVP Financial Lines Claims Manager, you will follow established protocols to ensure claims are managed efficiently and effectively, always delivering a customer‑centric claims service. Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in‑person presence, which may include time in the office or market‑facing engagements.What you will doReview claim documents and investigate to analyze coverage, liability, and damagesDraft coverage position correspondence addressing liability and damages, and communicate coverage with insureds, brokers, business units, insurance tower, mediators, and judges as necessaryDeliver exceptional customer service by building and maintaining relationships with customers, brokers, and external partnersEnsure claim and file management complies with Zurich Best Practices and insurance regulatory frameworksProactively manage litigated files through internal and external counselPrepare and develop strategy for resolution of claims, ensuring timely and appropriate reservesAttend and participate in hearings, mediations, and settlement conferencesProvide claims insights to assist business units and collaborate with underwriters to identify trends and claim issuesProtect Zurich’s reputation by keeping claims information confidentialJob QualificationsJuris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in the legal areaJD and 5 or more years of legal practice experience in the insurance areaMust obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)Experience in insurance claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environmentNegotiation experienceCustomer service experienceMicrosoft Office experiencePreferred QualificationsMember of the barDetail orientedStrong verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsAnalytical and problem‑solving skillsTime management and prioritizationAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionCollaboration and teamworkAdaptability and ability to work in a fast‑paced environmentProfessional discretion and confidentialityFile management and documentation skillsResults‑oriented and solution‑focused mindsetSalary and Benefits Zurich Canada is committed to pay equity.
