This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing a membership-based website that serves a global community of bonsai enthusiasts. The platform provides magazine subscriptions, a community forum, and supports convention tourism initiatives. As the dedicated PHP Web Developer, you will collaborate remotely with an editor and brand manager, who coordinate with IT services and a volunteer Board of Directors. Your expertise will ensure the website remains robust, user-friendly, and up-to-date, supporting the ongoing growth and engagement of the community. Deliverables Maintain and update the PHP-based website, ensuring optimal performance and security. Implement new features and enhancements as requested by stakeholders. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to user accounts, subscriptions, and forum functionality. Collaborate with the editor, brand manager, and IT services to align website updates with organizational goals. Provide technical support and documentation for ongoing website operations. Ensure compatibility across browsers and devices, and optimize for accessibility. Requirements Proven experience in PHP web development, including maintaining and updating membership-based platforms. Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL. Experience with content management systems and forum integration. Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with non-technical stakeholders.
