The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students and almost 100 programs delivered through 24 Departments, Schools and Colleges, plus the IBM Markham Learning Site. Reporting to Director, Strategic Research & Partnerships (Director, SRP), the Centre Coordinator role is responsible for coordination, administration and effective delivery of services to support the goals and objectives of the Centre as well as coordinating outreach programs and the administration of financial reports. The role organizes and coordinates academic conferences, speaker series, meetings and events for the Research Centre, and faculty members as it relates to the operations of the Centre. Relatedly, this role offers support to faculty who administer external research grants through the GLRC, by providing administrative support related to hiring of research assistants and associates. Preparing timesheets and other forms related to payroll and records for necessary approvals, monitoring hours and contract renewals. The role also provides logistical support to affiliated faculty members, trainees, students, and external partners related to knowledge mobilization activities, ensuring adherence to best practices and facilitating connections with internal stakeholders when required. The role supports the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and York University, and contributes to a positive, supportive and student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration and continuous improvement. Qualifications Education: Completion of University degree in a related field, such as Social Sciences, Sociology, Law, Humanities, or Development Studies or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at a post-secondary institution and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Experience: Two (2) years of related work experience in an academic or related research focused unit providing administrative support. Experience with, or demonstrable knowledge and awareness of, issues related to global labour and specifically the Centre’s five core cross-cutting research themes. Critical social science research, international development, and social justice and/or communities. Experience supporting a university research centre in a similar role is an asset.
