The Accounting Technician / Junior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the organization’s day-to-day financial operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, maintaining reliable accounting records, and contributing to the effective delivery of core finance processes. Working collaboratively within a dynamic finance team, the Accounting Technician supports month-end and year-end activities, banking and reconciliation functions, as well as both revenue and accounts payable processes, while helping to uphold strong financial controls and responsive internal service.ResponsibilitiesProcess and reconcile daily banking activity, including deposits, electronic payments, and credit card transactions; maintain ongoing bank reconciliationsEnsure financial transactions are accurately recorded in the appropriate accounts and reporting periods in accordance with established procedures and controlsPrepare journal entries, accruals, and general ledger adjustments; support month-end close activitiesPerform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including analysis of deferred revenue, events, and membership accountsReview transactions for accuracy, completeness, appropriate coding, and compliance with internal policiesSupport invoicing, cash application, account maintenance, and revenue-related record keepingCollaborate with internal teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies, ensuring timely and accurate resolutionAssist with financial analysis, reporting, and audit support, including month-end, interim, and year-end processesManage invoice adjustments, write-offs, and accounts receivable follow-ups, including communication with members and internal teams on outstanding balancesProvide backup support for accounts payable functions as neededThe Ideal CandidatePost‑secondary education in Finance or AccountingMinimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in a similar accounting roleStrong foundation in general accounting principles, including reconciliations, financial controls, and month‑end processesProven experience preparing journal entries and performing balance sheet analysesAdvanced proficiency in Excel and experience with Sage 300Exposure to Sage Intacct, CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot), and integrated financial systems is considered an assetHighly organized with strong time‑management skills and the ability to manage competing prioritiesDetail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy in all workAnalytical and solutions‑oriented, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and recommend practical resolutionsStrong communication skills with a professional, customer‑service mindsetAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamBilingualism in English and French is considered an assetDemonstrates accountability, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to maintain confidentialityWhat Will Make You Stand OutAdvanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) and experience leveraging financial systems to improve efficiency and reporting accuracyExperience working in a multi‑entity or membership‑based organization, with exposure to complex revenue streams such as events or deferred revenueDemonstrated ability to identify process improvements and streamline accounting workflows using system capabilities or automation toolsProven track record of proactively resolving discrepancies and strengthening financial controls while collaborating effectively across departments#J-18808-Ljbffr
