The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for managing and overseeing all Edmonton/Fort Saskatchewan, AB field construction among various trades on projects or across a portfolio of work including planning, organizing, directing and controlling various aspects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:Manage and provide leadership for health, safety, environment, and quality programs and policiesAssist Project Manager or Division Manager in the planning of assigned projectsExecutes plan and evaluates schedules and site personnel to ensure project objectives are metProvides leadership to Foreman(s) and prioritizes work accordinglyOversees site safety and quality control personnelHire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staffBuild and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationshipsMonitor job costing, reporting, forecasting, and productivityOversee field administration: timesheets, project reports, and material purchasesReview work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficienciesRead and interpret reports, such as job cost, labour, projection sheets, and PO entriesActs as brand ambassador for Black & McDonaldEducation RequirementsTrade Qualification and/or have a Technical Diploma to complement 10+ years of field experienceWork Experience Requirements10+ years of field experience in Industrial Construction (Mechanical and Sheet Metal experience is an asset)Competency RequirementsChange Orientation (open to change and the ability to identify where it is needed and how to make it happen)Communicates Effectively (verbally and in writing)Continuous Learning (ongoing effort to learn and contribute to the learnings of others)Customer Focus (understand the needs and perspectives of both internal and external customers)Holds Self and Others Accountable (take personal responsibility to meet commitments)Problem Solving and Innovation (ability to approach problems logically and seek innovative solutions)Teamwork and Collaboration (work cooperatively and collaboratively with others)Values and Respects Others (encourages and supports diversity)Skills, Abilities, and Other RequirementsAdvanced supervisory and leadership skillsAdvanced site safety supervisionAbility to read drawings and project/structural design interpretationProven planning and scheduling skillsContract ManagementRisk ManagementDispute Resolution and Negotiation SkillsWilling and able to travel to siteClean, Valid Drivers' License (Class 1 or 3 with Q endorsement considered an asset)Construction Safety Certifications including the following are considered assets.Fall ArrestWHMISFirst AidLeadership for Safety Excellence (LSE)Please be advised that a Criminal Background Check and Professional Reference Check will be required as part of our employment screening and selection process.
