We are seeking a high-caliber Plant Manager to lead all operational activities at our 80,000 sq. ft. steel processing facility. You will be responsible for driving production excellence, ensuring 100% compliance with Canadian safety standards, and optimizing complex workflows including fabrication, welding, and machining. As a data‑driven leader, you will oversee a multi‑layered team to meet demanding production targets while maintaining strict cost controls. Key Responsibilities Operational Excellence: Plan and direct daily plant operations to ensure production schedules are met with maximum efficiency and minimal waste. Manage plant labour costs and plant resourcing. Safety & Compliance: Serve as the primary advocate for a "safety-first" culture, ensuring full compliance with Provincial Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and environmental standards. Manage WSIB employee files with emphasis on return to work, modification of job duties as applicable. Strategic Planning: Develop and manage annual capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) budgets to optimize ROI on plant assets. Quality Assurance: Maintain rigorous quality control systems (e.g., ISO 9001) to meet or exceed customer specifications and industry standards. Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse workforce, including supervisors, and production staff and temporary workers. Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma initiatives to eliminate bottlenecks and streamline heavy‑duty steel processing workflows. Facility & Asset Management: Oversee the preventative maintenance programs for the building. Required Qualifications Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, specifically steel processing or metal fabrication. Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Industrial), Business Administration, or a related technical diploma preferred. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of steel manufacturing processes, including welding, machining, and material handling systems. Software Proficiency: Advanced experience with ERP/MRP systems for production tracking and proficiency in MS Office (specifically Excel). Leadership Style: Proven "hands‑on" manager with the ability to lead by example on the shop floor. Salary Range: Typically, $110,000 – $140,000 CAD annually, depending on experience and location.
