Position Summary FAMILY PHYSICIAN- Fraser South FNPCC The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is the first of its kind in Canada. Title: Family Physician - Successful applicants may be eligible for a 0.2 FTE medical lead Contract: Contract 0.2 FTE up to a 1.0 FTE – typically 336 to 1680 hours a year Location: Abbotsford & Seabird Island Hubs with spoke services in the Fraser South region (including on-reserve services) Physician Master Agreement Full Scope (Non-JSC Community) range placement of $279,238 - $349,048, subject to whether scope of services includes facility-based coverage. Compensation is scaled to Full Time Equivalent. Additional incentives may apply subject to eligibility. Family Physicians are not required to contribute to overhead and typically a renewable contract will be negotiated. FNPCI Initiative: The First Nations-led Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI) aims to improve access to primary health-care services for First Nations people across BC in a culturally safe manner and closer to home. The FNPCI is part of the province’s primary care strategy, integrating team-based care and creating primary care networks in partnership with Regional Health Authorities. Primary care must be culturally informed where Indigenous ways of knowing and being are woven into services to ensure clients feel safe, welcomed, valued, respected and heard when accessing care at FNHA centres. About The Centre Working from Service Hub locations in Abbotsford and Seabird Island, the Fraser South First Nations Primary Care Centre (FS-FNPCC) will provide primary care services to members of Matsqui, Sumas, Kwantlen, Chawathil, Shxw’ow’hamel, Yale, Spuzzum and Boothroyd First Nations and the diverse Indigenous population in the South Fraser Region (Abbotsford, Langley, Hope and Canyon). The FS-FNPCC will operate through multiple spoke sites to provide holistic, wraparound, team-based primary care, mental health and traditional wellness services. It is expected to initially operate Monday to Friday (excluding Statutory Holidays) during regular business hours (subject to change for operational needs). About The Role The Family Physician will be the primary provider for a patient panel but is expected to collaborate in team-based care and support Western and Traditional Wellness approaches to patient health. A minimum panel size is typically expected to reach 650 per 1.0 FTE by year 3 and will be confirmed in the clinical service contract. The Family Physician will travel on a pre-arranged schedule to different sites to be available for appointments within the community, in keeping with the FNHA value of services closer to home. Responsibilities The Family Physician will practice with cultural humility in a culturally safe, team-based environment that recognizes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the client (and family) to provide whole-person care, in compliance with policies and procedures of BC health and wellness regulations and standards. About You You are passionate about supporting First Nations individuals and families on their health and wellness journeys; You have an active practicing license in good standing with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC); You have training in Cultural Safety & Humility or are willing to undertake this training; Ideally you have experience working with First Nations people and communities and providing culturally safe care.
