Make a Difference: Career at STRABAG WatertechnologyYour contribution to our company Position SummaryThe Concrete Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all concrete-related construction activities on assigned projects. This role ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents, quality standards, and production targets. The Concrete Superintendent provides leadership to field crews, manages subcontractors, and works closely with project management to maintain schedule and budget performance.Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations & ExecutionPlan, coordinate, and supervise all concrete operations including formwork, reinforcing steel, embedded items, shotcrete (where applicable), placement, finishing, and curing.Develop and implement daily and weekly work plans aligned with the overall project schedule.Oversee structural concrete works (foundations, slabs, walls, columns, suspended slabs, retaining structures, civil structures, etc.).Ensure proper sequencing of activities to maintain productivity and minimize rework.Coordinate concrete pours, including logistics, pump placement, testing, inspection, and quality control.Safety LeadershipPromote and enforce a strong safety culture on site.Conduct daily tailboards and hazard assessments.Ensure compliance with provincial safety legislation (e.g., OHSA in Ontario) and company safety programs.Identify and mitigate high-risk activities such as suspended slabs, high‑formwork systems, and confined spaces.Quality ControlEnsure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and tolerances.Coordinate inspections and testing (slump tests, air content, compressive strength cylinders).Review and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).Address deficiencies promptly and implement corrective measures.Schedule & Productivity ManagementMonitor concrete productivity against budgeted production rates.Identify and resolve bottlenecks affecting schedule.Provide input into short‑interval planning and look‑ahead schedules (2–6 weeks).Track and report actual vs. planned performance.Supervise forepersons, crews, and subcontractors.Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams.Attend coordination and progress meetings with clients and consultants.Manage equipment requirements including pumps, cranes, vibrators, finishing equipment.Ensure adequate manpower and tools are available to meet schedule commitments.Pre‑employment screeningis required for this position.
