Job SummaryA Senior Financial Analyst based out of the Toronto office. This unique position requires working on both Canadian and International financial accounting and reporting. The role demands a highly dynamic candidate with excellent general ledger and technical accounting skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and a commitment to excellent performance. Experience with ERP systems is considered a plus. It is a hybrid role, with 1–2 days per week expected in person at 200 Bay Street in Toronto. Job ResponsibilitiesGeneral ledger accounting, month end and quarter end closings and related reporting. Prepare prepaids & accruals reconciliations, payroll, balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, and month end journal entries. Prepare monthly department-wise Budget vs Actuals and provide insights and analysis to department managers. Conduct treasury administration and prepare bank reconciliations; maintain necessary audit trails and support the Controller in compiling information for internal, external, tax, and regulatory audits. Pay monthly/quarterly tax installments for sales tax and premium taxes. Review accounts payable and other expense invoices and recommend proper coding. Manage the Mexico US GAAP books close off and quarterly reporting. Prepare IFRS 17 journal entries, reconciliations, and support the Controller for regulatory filing preparations. Perform analysis on complex accounting issues and assist with ad‑hoc audit requests. Identify and implement solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness through elimination, simplification, and automation of processes. Prepare and deliver any other ad‑hoc management reports or requests. Participate in special projects as required. Other duties as assigned or required. QualificationsMinimum of 5 years’ experience working at a financial services organization in the areas of financial accounting/reporting and budgeting/financial analysis or an accounting firm. University degree with a focus in finance or accounting. Accounting designation or working toward one is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent understanding of accounting concepts and cycles. Strong team orientation with the ability to collaborate with internal clients, peers, and management. Excellent problem‑solving capabilities and the ability to troubleshoot. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within Finance as well as the client groups supported. Understanding of insurance accounting concepts is a definite asset.
