We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Fashion Vertical team. In this high‑impact role, you will provide the technical vision for our Trust business programs and AI‑powered innovations. As a Senior Software Engineer, you won’t just write code; you will drive the establishment of E2E pipelines that manage sophisticated system behaviors across the entire e‑commerce workflow. You will bridge the gap between domain partners, the Science team, and Product, owning the integration of advanced algorithms into scalable, personalized user experiences. What You Will Accomplish Architectural Leadership: Translate complex business requirements into scalable software designs. Create clean, extensible, and maintainable codebases that serve as a standard for the organization. E2E Ownership: Drive the full software lifecycle for large‑scale domains, ensuring excellence in design, development, testing, and 24/7 observability. Technical Influence: Act as a key decision‑maker for the team’s technology stack, guiding peers and partners toward robust, future‑proof technical solutions. Engineering Velocity: Identify areas of high volatility and design flexible systems to minimize technical debt and accelerate delivery speed. Strategic Collaboration: Partner with multi‑functional leaders (Product, Design, Eng, Science) to define and implement innovative roadmaps that align with global business goals. Quality: Champion testable architectures and continuous delivery practices to ensure the highest levels of system reliability. Execution & Mentorship: Break down sophisticated projects into executable landmarks. Provide deep technical coaching, high‑standard code reviews, and mentorship to elevate the engineering bar across the team. Systems Thinking: Proactively identify gaps across functional areas, propose long‑term engineering roadmaps, and drive the resolution of systemic issues. Operational Excellence: Lead the strategy for E2E testing, release management, and on‑call support for our “always‑on” global platform. What You Will Bring Bachelor’s degree in EE, CS or other related fields. 8+ years of experience in Java, GraphQL, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, messaging systems and/or other backend programming languages. Experience building data‑driven applications (RDBMS, NoSQL, ElasticSearch). Delivers results in fast‑paced environments (agile, TDD, CI/CD). Outstanding ability to navigate technical trade‑offs, making high‑stakes decisions that balance immediate business needs with long‑term architectural health. Strong sense of E2E ownership with the ability to align multi‑functional teams and mentor junior engineers toward technical growth. Experience with recommendation systems or data pipelines is a plus but not required. Additional Details Base pay range: C$142,400 – C$190,100. Base pay may vary based on location, skills, and experience. Compensation may also include a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) and a full range of benefits.
