Job Description Shift Health is seeking a Consultant to join our dynamic team on a full-time, permanent basis and to support our growing pharma strategy and strategic competitive intelligence portfolio. Application Deadline: Rolling (Evergreen) Target Hire Date: Rolling (Evergreen) Reporting Relationships Each Consultant is assigned a Performance Coach to support their success in the firm. In the context of projects, reporting relationships vary from project to project. Responsibilities Consultants will support client engagements by conducting primary and secondary research, and by working closely with senior project team members to synthesize information gathered, develop deliverables and communicate research findings and recommendations to clients. Beyond client engagements, you will contribute to business development by supporting the development of proposals and helping to strengthen Shift Health’s culture, including our commitment to Inclusion, Equity, Diversity and Accessibility (IDEA). The duties and responsibilities of Shift Health Consultants include: Key project functions: Gathering and interpreting research from diverse secondary sources; Conducting primary research, including designing consultation guides, identifying and engaging key informants, participating in consultations and documenting discussions; Analyzing and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative information to generate insights and support the development of presentations and reports; Communicating results and recommendations internally to project teams and to clients as required; Collaborating with team members to review and revise deliverables based on feedback from internal team members and clients; and Supporting Project Managers as required in implementing the Shift Health Project Management Framework to manage project teams in terms of coordinating day-to-day project tasks to meet overall project objectives, timelines and budgets. Key Internal Functions Contributing to Shift Health’s culture and visibility by participating in internal projects and organizational strategy; for example, by supporting mentorship activities, seeking out opportunities to represent Shift Health at external events, and conducting informational interviews with candidates interested in learning about Shift Health and the Consultant role at the company. Key Business Development Functions Reviewing requests for proposals and developing detailed submission checklists; Compiling and tailoring relevant case studies, bios, and other template marketing material for proposals; Conducting secondary research of relevance to support the development of the proposal (e.g. on the client/sector); and Developing general marketing material (e.g. capabilities decks). Required Qualifications and Experiences Consultants must have: Completed (or be close to completing) a graduate degree (PhD, Masters or equivalent) in the life sciences or a related field. A focus in vaccines/infectious disease or oncology is a distinct advantage; Experience in pharma commercial strategy and competitive intelligence (e.g. primary competitive intelligence), particularly within vaccines/infectious disease or oncology is a distinct advantage; and A business degree/certification and/or relevant business experience may be an advantage. Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes To effectively conduct their essential functions, Consultants are required to demonstrate excellence across the following dimensions: Knowledge of science, healthcare and/or the life sciences sector, particularly private sector and in infectious disease or oncology; Problem-solving and analytical skills; Written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work in a team setting; Organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment; Attention to detail; Poise, professionalism and the ability to apply constructive feedback to deliver excellent work; Knowledge of Microsoft Office; and Ability to acclimate quickly to new knowledge frameworks and structures Travel Travel to client offices or off-site locations may be required. Consultants may dedicate approximately 10-15% of their time to domestic or international travel. Location Shift Health currently practices a hybrid model. Our office is in Toronto, ON, Canada.
