Job Description Entry‑Level Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings + Places team in Burnaby, British Columbia. Responsibilities Design Support Assist in the design of electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, low‑voltage systems (communications, security, etc.) Help prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation Perform basic electrical calculations (e.g., load calculations, panel schedules) Support Revit/BIM modeling and AutoCAD drafting Project Coordination Work closely with intermediate and senior engineers to support project delivery Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, architectural, structural) under guidance Participate in internal design meetings and team discussions Codes & Standards Learn and apply relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code) Ensure designs align with project requirements and industry practices Stay informed on engineering best practices and emerging technologies Construction Phase Support Assist with shop drawing reviews, responding to RFIs, site visits and field reviews (with supervision) Support commissioning and project closeout activities Professional Development Actively work toward developing technical knowledge and design skills Pursue Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) designation (if not already obtained) Participate in mentorship and training opportunities within the team Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post‑secondary institution (or equivalent) Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and building systems Preferred Qualifications 0–3 years of relevant internship, co‑op, or work experience Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit Exposure to building systems design EIT (Engineer‑in‑Training) status or eligibility Competencies Strong willingness to learn and grow professionally Good communication and teamwork skills Attention to detail and organizational ability Problem‑solving mindset Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines Benefits Mentorship from experienced engineers Structured training and development programs Exposure to diverse building projects Support toward professional licensure (P.Eng.) Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000.
