Job Description As a Senior Hydrogeologist at WSP, you will take on a visible technical and leadership role within the Water Management, Hydrogeology and Geophysics team, supporting complex environmental and engineering challenges in Alberta and across Western Canada.The Opportunity Based in Calgary, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to clients while helping shape the strategic direction and continued growth of our Earth & Environment services in the Prairies and North. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of technical excellence, people leadership, and business development.Your ImpactLead physical hydrogeology components of local, regional, and international projects, ensuring delivery meets WSP and client standards for safety, quality, schedule, and budget.Provide health and safety leadership across field and office activities.Mentor and guide hydrogeology professionals, strengthening regional technical capability.Collaborate with senior specialists across hydrogeology, groundwater modeling, mining, and engineering disciplines.Deliver leading‑practice consulting services that support sustainable development and environmental protection.Build strong client relationships and actively contribute to business development and workload planning.Establish and maintain connections with internal business units to enhance integrated service delivery.Engage regularly with clients, regional groundwater professionals, and subject‑matter experts across WSP.The Skills That Set You ApartB.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or Civil Engineering, with a strong foundation in physical hydrogeology.20+ years of progressive experience in hydrogeology; experience in oil sands, oil & gas, or mining in Western Canada is a strong asset.Registered Professional Geoscientist or Engineer in Alberta (or eligible for registration).Proven ability to lead high‑performing technical teams and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.Demonstrated success in developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.Experience delivering hydrogeological programs including groundwater monitoring, regulatory applications, and environmental impact assessments.Strong background in field investigations, well testing, hydraulic testing, and project planning across full project life cycles.Experience with industry‑standard well‑test analysis software such as AQTESOLV, AquiferTest, or Saphir is considered an asset.Why Choose WSP?Proudly Canadian – we are a Top 100 Employer in Canada for 2026.A global community of brilliant minds – your next idea, mentor, or opportunity is always within reach.Limitless opportunities to grow across the country or around the globe.Flexible work, real balance – we encourage prioritizing work‑life balance.Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $138,800 – $186,500MB & ON: $126,600 – $176,600NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $125,400 – $168,900Disclosure: The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
