Overview We are seeking a Director of Fleet Maintenance to provide senior leadership and strategic oversight of fleet maintenance, reliability, and asset lifecycle management within a heavy-duty diesel and equipment services organization. This role is responsible for ensuring fleet uptime, safety compliance, maintenance efficiency, and cost control across multi-site operations. The Director partners with executive leadership to align maintenance strategy with operational performance, regulatory requirements, and long-term business growth objectives. Responsibilities Lead fleet maintenance operations across multiple facilities, including preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, inspections, and compliance programs. Develop and execute fleet maintenance strategies to maximize asset uptime, extend equipment lifecycle, and reduce total cost of ownership. Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling, and workforce allocation to meet operational demand and service levels. Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, safety standards, environmental requirements, and OEM maintenance guidelines. Establish, monitor, and report on KPIs including fleet availability, maintenance costs, labour productivity, safety performance, and warranty recovery. Partner with operations, logistics, procurement, and finance leaders to align maintenance execution with fleet utilization and budgetary targets. Lead, coach, and develop maintenance managers, shop supervisors, and technical leadership teams. Manage maintenance budgets, capital planning, vendor relationships, and equipment replacement strategies. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including predictive maintenance, diagnostics optimization, maintenance systems, and technology adoption. Promote a strong safety culture, operational discipline, and accountability across all maintenance operations. Qualifications 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in fleet maintenance, heavy-duty diesel, trucking, transportation, or equipment services. Proven experience managing multi-site fleet maintenance operations and large technical teams. Strong technical expertise in heavy-duty diesel engines, preventative maintenance programs, diagnostics, inspections, and asset lifecycle management. Demonstrated success leading safety, compliance, and operational performance improvement initiatives. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered. Strong financial acumen with experience managing operating budgets, capital expenditures, and cost-control initiatives. Ability to influence and collaborate with frontline teams, senior leadership, and external vendors. Salary up to $200k based on experience. Performance-based incentive program.
