Our client, a leading food manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Manager, Research & Development to lead innovation, product development, and process improvement initiatives within its hard cheese portfolio. This is an opportunity for a hands-on R&D leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to lead projects, influence cross-functional teams, and drive new product development from concept through commercialization. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and execution of new product innovation, formulation optimization, and process improvement initiatives within the hard cheese category. Manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, objectives, and business priorities are achieved. Design, oversee, and interpret research activities, plant trials, and product validation programs. Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams to successfully execute development projects. Identify and support cost-saving opportunities through ingredient optimization, process improvements, and operational efficiencies. Investigate product and manufacturing challenges, develop solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Provide technical expertise and product knowledge to support commercialization and customer-facing materials. Lead, coach, and develop a team of R&D professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and career growth. Support a safe working environment while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Key Qualifications University degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Minimum 10 years of experience within the food or dairy manufacturing industry. Experience leading product development, innovation, and commercialization projects. Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes, formulation, and product functionality. Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and Canadian food regulations. Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical details and business objectives. Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
