The Role As the Engineering Manager for Site Experience, you will lead and manage a team of software engineers focused on developing and enhancing the core site performance and integrations of our platform for customers using Drupal, WordPress, and Next.js. You will be responsible for the team’s performance, delivery, and growth within this functional area, defining and delivering engineering initiatives focused on outcomes. What You’ll Do Lead and Mentor : Guide the team through organizational changes, challenges, and uncertainties, maintaining productivity and morale. Provide hands-on coaching, guidance, and troubleshooting to mentor and develop engineering talent. Execution and Delivery : Manage projects with shifting priorities and ensure the team adapts quickly to evolving structures and processes to deliver high-quality work. Strategy and Vision : Understand the organization’s objectives and align the team’s priorities with them. Advocate for changes that benefit the team and the broader organization. Technical Guidance : Lead architecture discussions, review code, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to technical discussions to maintain a high bar for technical excellence. Collaboration : Contribute to team and organizational goals, working with immediate team members and cross-functional stakeholders (10-20 individuals) to ensure alignment. Direction : Provide clear direction to your team, translating high-level goals into actionable tasks, giving feedback, and ensuring alignment. You will have autonomy within your team’s scope to allocate work and solve problems in line with the engineering strategy. Hiring : Own the hiring process for the team, including interviewing, closing candidates, and building a diverse, high-performing team. What You’ll Bring Experience : 5+ years of software development experience with a solid track record as an individual contributor. 1-3 years of direct people management experience, including leading small teams, mentoring juniors, or acting as a tech lead. Proven ability to deliver projects successfully, ideally with direct customer or agency experience. Technical Acumen : Experience building websites using Drupal, CMS, and/or Next.js, preferably with open-source contributions. Working knowledge of Python, Golang, or other modern languages. Strong foundations in computer science, including data structures and algorithms. Understanding of scalable cloud architectures and cloud technologies, including relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MariaDB, Cloud SQL) and caches (e.g., Redis, Memcached). Communication : Clear, confident communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts. Methodology : Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or other development methodologies. Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time. The Canadian base salary range for this position is 150,400 – 188,000 CAD per year. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
