Job Description The Senior Project manager - Utilities plays an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of a facility’s utilities systems, including water, gas, electric, and other energy sources. This position involves overseeing the maintenance, repair, and improvement of these systems to ensure they meet the needs of the facility efficiently and sustainably. By coordinating with various departments, the Senior Project Manager ensures that all utility services are delivered reliably and comply with regulatory standards. Their expertise in managing resources and negotiating with suppliers helps in optimizing costs while maintaining the quality of services. Vacancy Statement: This is a new Position Location: This position is located out of the GTA Responsibilities Overseeing utility construction projects from start to finish in collaboration with various teams to ensure that all aspects of utilities are properly installed and meet project standards. Negotiate and manage contracts with utility service providers, vendors, and contractors to secure favorable terms and ensure quality service. Implement safety protocols and emergency response plans for utility systems. Overseeing on‑site activities, ensuring compliance and maintaining quality control while promoting a safe working environment and keeping schedules and budgets on track. Lead and manage utility staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation to ensure a skilled and effective workforce. Leading by example and working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and field staff to ensure that construction standards are met and work progresses smoothly. Ensuring that all utility equipment and installations are continuously monitored for safety and functionality. Carrying out thorough inspections and site checks to maintain high‑quality standards throughout the project and to identify risks and/or areas for improvement. Verifying that all construction work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company guidelines. Enforcing legal regulations and safety procedures to protect the health and well‑being of the team. Verifying that construction activities align with compliance and project requirements. Qualifications We are looking for a committed and skilled professional who takes pride in doing quality work. You are experienced in managing construction projects and familiar with the requirements of dry utilities. You understand the importance of compliance and safety and possess strong problem‑solving abilities. Post secondary degree or diploma from a Civil Engineering or Construction Management program (or similar / relevant) is preferred. Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing construction projects, while applying knowledge and expertise towards the requirements of dry utilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to lead and manage a team effectively Problem‑solving and critical thinking skills Strong organizational and time‑management skills Ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities Self‑motivated, self‑dedicated, and result oriented. Ability to work with tight deadlines, multitask and follow up.
