This role focuses on the hands-on execution of our Data Fabric and Data Mesh architectures, ensuring that data is accessible, secure, and ready for advanced Agentic AI applications. You will bridge the gap between raw data and business value by developing high-performance Data Products that accelerate business decisions and generate revenue. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and implement the technical capabilities that power our decentralized engineering model. You will lead the transition from manual coding to AI-augmented workflows, leveraging Generative AI for code generation and testing. Operating in a "Forward-deployed Engineer" capacity, you will often embed within business units to solve complex data challenges directly at the source. Data Platform Engineering & Data Mesh Pipeline Development: Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Spark and Databricks to unify structured and unstructured data across AWS/GCP and other cloud-native data platforms. Self-Service Tooling: Develop the "Data Producer" and "Data Exchange" interfaces that allow business units to share and consume data autonomously. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implement platform guardrails and deployment patterns using Policy as Code and IaC Factory patterns. FinOps Optimization: Write highly efficient code and monitor compute patterns to maximize ROI and minimize cloud consumption costs. AI & Analytics Enablement Agentic AI Support: Build the underlying data infrastructure required to operationalize autonomous data agents and next-generation analytics. AI-Augmented Engineering: Lead by example in adopting prompt engineering and GenAI tools to automate documentation, testing, and code refactoring. Data Quality: Implement AI/ML-based monitoring tools for proactive anomaly detection and self-correcting data quality workflows. Governance, Security & Collaboration Built-in Security: Ensure every pipeline meets rigorous financial regulatory standards by integrating security and compliance features directly into the build process. Metadata Management: Contribute to the design and maintain the Enterprise Data Catalog & Data Exchange to ensure data is discoverable and well-documented across all business lines. Consultative Leadership: Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate complex engineering requirements into actionable business outcomes. Qualifications & Skills We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated technical expertise and the ability to collaborate across business units. The following are representative requirements: Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience scaling data solutions on hyperscalers, with a strong preference for GCP. Data Architecture: Deep proficiency in GCP BigQuery, GCP Vertex AI, Spark, Databricks, and Data Mesh architectures. Languages: Expert-level Python, PySpark, and SQL. DevOps/DataOps: Strong knowledge of CI/CD, software supply chains, and MLOps principles. Visualization: Familiarity with PowerBI, Sigma, or Looker to support data consumer needs. Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team. Strong documentation skills for architectural designs and technical workflows. Self-motivated and driven Experience & Education Industry: Proven background in Financial Services or other highly regulated industries. Transformational Projects: Experience participating in large-scale migrations from legacy systems to modern Cloud environments. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Compensation Base salary range: $95,000 - $143,000 The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada).
