Director, Canadian Banking Audit (Operations) Requisition ID: Responsibilities Act primarily as Audit Principal (AP) or Officer in Charge (OIC) for assigned audits; may also participate on audits. Work with other audit teams as required. Carry out specific projects or investigations of complex and/or confidential nature. Oversee execution, planning, and reporting as OIC/AP; develop a risk‑based audit approach and schedule resources. Ensure audit results are gathered, determine root causes, prepare/review findings for management presentation, and monitor corrective actions. Lead a client‑focused culture to deepen relationships and leverage broader Bank resources. Incorporate the Bank’s risk appetite and culture into day‑to‑day activities and decisions. Plan, document, and seek agreement on project approaches; confirm conclusions in writing; assist in due diligence for acquisitions. Maintain Scotiabank standards and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Code of Ethics in all assignments. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and regulators. Coordinate with other groups; complete timely review of workpapers and document control weaknesses with recommendations. Conduct ongoing monitoring to stay abreast of changes, emerging risks, or systemic issues. Build a high‑performance environment, implement people strategies to attract, retain, develop, and motivate the team, and manage succession planning. Meet Department training requirements. Qualifications University/Post‑secondary degree in Business or equivalent; CPA, CFA, CIA, or similar designation preferred. At least 10+ years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge of Operations supporting Canadian Banking (e.g., Retail and Business Service Centers, Global Client Experience Centres). In‑depth understanding of Canadian Banking products, including Real Estate Secured Lending, Unsecured, Automotive, and Small Business portfolios. Strong knowledge of regulatory environment impacting Canadian Banking (OSFI, FCAC, FINTRAC, provincial regulators). Proven ability to work in high ambiguity and rapidly changing environments. Highly proficient in applying risk‑based auditing standards and practices. Strong analytical skills, including use of data analytics or visualization tools. Ability to supervise multiple projects simultaneously. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Strong people‑management and coaching/development skills.
