About The Location Collaborative Work Environment: This role is based at the Canada Home Office with an expectation of working a minimum of three days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to two remote “flex day” with leader approval. The hybrid approach supports collaboration and flexibility. About The Job The Senior Space Planner is a key member of the Merchandise Planning and Allocation team. This role owns the planning of category releases and the execution of planograms, timelines, and shelf space analysis to align with category strategy, planogram standards, and return on space goals. Responsibilities include driving space decision making and producing planograms for category releases, ad-hoc optimization, store request projects, and planner/drive aisle activities as needed. Space Planners are responsible for item shelf placement and optimal shelf capacity to ensure the most productive SKUs are included in the planogram. Adjusting for various planogram sizes is also a critical component. The Senior Space Planner reports to the Senior Manager of Space and Assortment Optimization and works with Buyers and cross-functional teams to meet category objectives, maximize space productivity, and base decisions on accurate information. The role also supports the divisional strategy, policies, resources, and execution plans to align with PetSmart localization needs. Major Responsibilities Implements strategies to drive category productivity and financial performance (sales, margin, market share). Leads analysis that informs localized assortment decisions and supports the team’s strategy, financial plan, and space productivity goals. Create, monitor, maintain, and communicate all planograms for assigned categories. Manage end-to-end category releases, using the Merchandising Process (Step 1.0 – Step 9.0). Lead scheduling of merchandising process meetings with leadership and cross-functional teams. Collaborate with Buyers/Merchandise Planners/Manager of Space to ensure alignment to assortment and planogram design, and ensure consistency with the strategy across all versions of planograms. Conduct analysis using centralized reporting (Data Manager, AO) and Alteryx to support merchandising and business performance. Generate ad-hoc reporting for pre/post planogram and space performance analyses. Incorporate external data sources (e.g., Nielsen, Numerator) as needed to reflect industry and market trends. Develop planograms using JDA/Blue Yonder Space Planning, ensure alignment with floor planning, including fixtures, signage, and visual merchandising. Lead communication of planogram execution through POG notes and monthly playbooks. Support store execution by resolving POG issues promptly.
